The front of the driveshaft generally remains in a more consistent position, so a standard round hoop is usually sufficient.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eHowever, every vehicle and installation is different, so you're welcome to select round or oval hoops for either position to suit your requirements.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003eChoosing the Correct Hoop Size\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003eWhen selecting your driveshaft hoop size, start by measuring the outside diameter of your driveshaft. As a general guide, allow a \u003cstrong\u003eminimum of 12–13mm (½\") clearance around the driveshaft\u003c\/strong\u003e, while also considering the movement of the driveline.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eDon't forget the yokes, universal joints, flanges and other driveline components!\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eSome vehicles have relatively small-diameter driveshafts but much larger components at either end. Some Holden, Nissan and Toyota driveshafts are approximately 2.5\" in diameter, but their larger tripod joint assemblies can require a 5\" hoop to provide adequate clearance for installation and removal.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eThe outside diameter of your driveshaft.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eThe diameter of any yokes, universal joints, flanges or other components that the hoop needs to clear.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eThe available space around the driveshaft, including suspension and driveline movement.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eAny additional clearance required for installation, including handbrake cables, shifter mechanisms and other nearby components.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\u003cp\u003eOur tip: Measure the largest component the hoop needs to accommodate, not just the driveshaft itself.
